DAY Company — Dance Athens Youth Company presents a contemporary dance double bill featuring Chora: A Land Within and Les Tulipes at PLYFA Theatre on 23 and 24 November 2026.  

Seven dancers bring to life two distinct choreographic worlds, exploring memory, identity and femininity through movement and physical presence.  

CHORA: A Land Within 

Chora: A Land Within is a nostalgic journey through time and memory, where personal and  collective journeys meet through the movement of bodies. Seven dancers compose an ever changing landscape of memories, seeking a balance between individual and shared experience.  

Guided by music and costumes, the choreography traverses the turbulent 20th century, the  movement of populations and the transformation of cultural identities, uncovering traces of places  that have been lost, memories that persist and homelands we continue to carry within us as the  world around us constantly changes.

Les Tulipes 

Through movement and presence, play and performance, Les Tulipes explores femininity as an  experience lived through bodies that bend, bloom, wither, resist and transform. Between humour  and seriousness, the choreography plays with the movements, qualities and expectations associated  with femininity, asking how they are learned, expressed and experienced.  

In dialogue with the waves of feminism that shaped the past, as well as those yet to come, Les  Tulipes approaches femininity as something neither fixed nor uniform, but fluid, playful and  constantly changing. A dance between what is cultivated and what grows freely.

About DAY Company

DAY Company is an initiative of Dance Athens Artistic Director Ilias Bageorgos.  

An integral part of Dance Athens’ artistic and educational activities, the company aims to support  the first professional steps of a new dance community, offering young dancers the opportunity to  join a creative ensemble and develop artistically in their home country, Greece.  

Through collaborations with artists, DAY Company seeks to create new works and revive repertoire  by internationally acclaimed choreographers.  

Since beginning its activities in 2023, DAY Company has presented its work in Greece and abroad,  developing a network of international collaborations and expanding its presence in contemporary  dance.
